A quiet gem at the centre of memory and craft

Good to know

Best time to visit
Early morning, just after opening (around 10:00 AM), is best. You’ll enjoy the quiet before crowds arrive and catch the natural light hitting the courtyard tile and cedar woodwork — ideal for peaceful viewing and photos.
Address
327F+WJ5, Fes, Morocco
Accessibility
The museum is located inside the medina, with uneven cobblestone paths and some stairs at the entrance. It may not be wheelchair-accessible. Visitors with mobility concerns should enter from Place Nejjarine and avoid peak hours to move more comfortably.

Insider tips

The fountain just outside the entrance is one of the oldest public fountains in Fez — pause to admire it before entering. Inside the museum, go straight to the upper terrace café even if you’re not staying for tea — the view of the rooftops and minaret domes is unmatched. Keep a few dirhams handy for local artisans nearby selling miniatures of Nejjarine-style woodwork.
