How is this different from a 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour?

Shared 3-day tours race to the dunes and back for one night in camp. This private 7-day journey gives you two nights in a luxury camp at Erg Chebbi, and returns by a different route, through Nkob and the Draa Valley, so you never drive the same road twice.

What is included in the desert days?

Two nights in a luxury desert camp with dinner, a sunset camel trek in, a sunrise camel ride, sandboarding, a 4x4 excursion, a nomad family visit and a Gnawa music experience. Quad biking, buggies and hot air balloon flights are optional extras.

When is the best time to visit Merzouga?

March to May and late September to November bring warm days and comfortable nights. From December to February, days are sunny but nights are cold, so pack warm layers. In summer, desert afternoons often exceed 40°C, and we plan activities for early morning and evening.

Is this tour suitable for children or older travellers?

Yes. The camel rides are short and gentle, the camp is comfortable, and every drive is broken up with stops. We can also swap the camel ride for a 4x4 transfer to camp for anyone who prefers it.

Day-by-day itinerary

Walk through the Todra Gorge with your local guide, between limestone cliffs up to 300 metres high. Then watch the land open up as you drive towards Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun lowers, ride a camel into the sand to your luxury camp. Dinner is served under the stars. Overnight in a luxury desert camp. Drive: 4 to 5 hours.

Stay: Luxury desert camp

Climb a dune for the sunrise camel ride, then spend the day exploring the Sahara. Try sandboarding, then take a 4x4 around Erg Chebbi, whose dunes rise to around 150 metres. Stop for tea with a nomad family, and listen to Gnawa music in the village of Khamlia, whose families carry its West African roots. Dinner at camp. Second overnight in the luxury desert camp.

Cross into the Draa Valley, Morocco's longest palm oasis, where the green of the date palms feels vivid after the desert. Walk through a palm grove, stop for tea in an oasis village, then watch the sunset over the valley from your eco-lodge near Agdz. Overnight in the Agdz oasis. Drive: 3 to 4 hours.
