Its palm oasis, one of the most beautiful in southern Morocco, dotted with kasbahs. The most famous is the 17th-century Kasbah Amridil. It's a peaceful place to stay after the drive from Marrakech.

How long is the drive from Marrakech to Skoura?

About 4.5 hours without stops. With the Tizi n'Tichka pass, Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate along the way, plan on a full day.

Is this weekend too much driving?

Days three and four have the longest drives, but the road over the Atlas is one of the most scenic in Morocco, and the stops break it up. If you'd prefer a slower pace, we can add a night.

Cross the High Atlas to Aït Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed earthen ksar famous from film and television, then pass through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. End in the Skoura palm oasis at the Kasbah Amridil, a 17th-century kasbah and one of the finest in Morocco, once pictured on the 50-dirham note. Breakfast is included. Overnight in Skoura. Drive: about 5 hours with stops.
