Yes. Walking is gentle and optional, driving days are broken up with stops, and we adjust the pace, hotels and vehicle to your party.

Do I need to be fit for the Imlil walk?

No. The guided walk is gentle, on village paths and mule tracks, and is paced to your group. It's not a summit trek. For a longer hike or a Toubkal climb, ask us to extend your stay.

How far is Imlil from Marrakech?

About 65 kilometres, roughly 1.5 hours by road through the Asni Valley. It's the easiest way to reach the heart of the High Atlas on a short break.

What is the weather like in Imlil?

Much cooler than Marrakech. It's pleasant from spring to autumn, and in winter the peaks are snow-capped and it can be cold. Bring a warm layer and comfortable walking shoes at any time of year.

Day-by-day itinerary

A full day in the medina with your licensed guide. Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and the Mellah (the old Jewish Quarter), then the Ben Youssef Madrasa and the gardens of Le Jardin Secret, before an afternoon in the souks. Breakfast and dinner are included. Overnight in Marrakech.

Stay: Marrakech

Head into the High Atlas through the Asni Valley to Imlil, the mountain village at the gateway to Toubkal National Park, at around 1,740 metres. Take a guided walk among walnut groves and terraced fields, with panoramic views towards Jbel Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, then share lunch with a Berber family in their home. Return to Marrakech for the evening. Breakfast and dinner are included. Overnight in Marrakech. Drive: about 1.5 hours each way.
