Itinerary

Day 1

Accommodation

Night 1: Overnight in Marrakech

Your cinematic journey through Morocco begins in the vibrant “Red City.” This is not a standard tour, but a curated experience through the lens of a film location scout. Your guide, well-versed in cinematic history, will lead you through the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square and the surrounding souks, highlighting specific spots and alleys that have served as backdrops for numerous international films and television series. You’ll hear stories of famous directors and productions that have captured the magic of Marrakech. The day culminates with a special included rooftop dinner, offering you a panoramic, movie-style sunset over the city skyline.

Day 2

??? Ouarzazate

Accommodation

Night 1: Overnight in Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we embark on the dramatic drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, a scenic journey that has featured in many a car commercial and adventure film. Your first major stop is the legendary Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and perhaps the most famous filming location in Morocco. Your guide will lead you on a tour tailored to cinema, pointing out specific structures and vistas used in blockbusters like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and the television series Game of Thrones. In the afternoon, we dive into the heart of the industry with a guided tour of the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate (entrance included). As one of the largest film studios in the world, you will get a behind-the-scenes look at permanent sets, props, and backlots, learning how this desert city earned its nickname “The Hollywood of Africa.” The evening is free to explore Ouarzazate.

Day 3

Marrakech

After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Marrakech. We take the “director’s cut” route, leaving the main highway to visit authentic Berber villages nestled in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. This experience offers a poignant contrast to the previous day’s glamour, providing insight into the lives of the local communities whose culture and people are integral to the region’s cinematic identity. We will have opportunities to interact with locals and learn about their traditions before completing our scenic drive back to Marrakech, where the tour concludes in the afternoon.
