Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Lixus ruins special compared to other Roman sites in Morocco?
Lixus is one of the oldest Roman settlements in Morocco, dating back to the Phoenician era. It’s uniquely situated on a hill overlooking the Loukkos River and Atlantic Ocean, and was famous throughout the Roman Empire for its garum (fermented fish sauce) production. The site offers a more intimate, less crowded experience than Volubilis.
Yes, Asilah has beautiful sandy beaches perfect for swimming. While beach time isn’t formally included in the tour schedule, there are opportunities during free time. The waters are generally calm, and the beaches are less crowded than more southern resorts.
Asilah is famous for its ever-changing street art and murals, created during the annual cultural festival. You’ll see large-scale paintings on whitewashed walls, geometric designs, calligraphy, and contemporary art pieces. The themes change yearly, making each visit unique.
Larache has a distinct Spanish-Moroccan fusion due to its history as a Spanish protectorate. You’ll notice Spanish architecture, hear Spanish spoken widely, and find Spanish-influenced cuisine alongside traditional Moroccan elements, creating a unique cultural blend.
Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip as the terrain is uneven and rocky. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is essential as there’s little shade. Light, breathable clothing is recommended as the site is exposed to sun and coastal winds.
